Tatie Pot Recipe

As I type, I’m waiting for the first recipe from home to share with everyone – a recipe for what in my mind is the ultimate ‘man food’ – I’m talking about the dish known in Cumbria as Tatie Pot (Tattie Pot, Tatty Pot? Taty Pot?  You say tomato……).  Comfort food at its best, combining beef, lamb, veggies and potatoes, my mouth’s watering just thinking about it……. Update coming very soon.

In the meantime, do you like pie and peas?

*Update* – Here it is – the recipe you’ve been waiting for.  Click here for tatie pot heaven :-)

Food to take you back home…….

What’s the best food you’ve ever tasted?  That’s right – your mother’s.

We all love home-cooked food – the food that takes us back to our childhood, makes us feel warm and loved every time we taste it.  The food that, if only we could recreate it ourselves, would give that wonderful nostalgia that comes with reliving those recipes we grew up with.

So what I’d like to do, dear reader, is share with you some of those recipes that I was fortunate enough to be fed on as a boy, and still hanker after today.  I was brought up in Cumbria, in the north west of the UK, a county blessed with some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever laid eyes on (Cumbria is, of course, the home of the Lake District national park), and also home to some of the most mouth-watering and satisfying dishes my taste buds have ever encountered.

I know my way around a kitchen, but when it comes to those tried and tested recipes that get my juices flowing, I turn to my mother for instruction and inspiration.  I’d like to share her recipes with as many people as possible, so everyone has the opportunity to savour the aromas, textures and flavours that I was lucky enough to enjoy during my childhood.

Over the coming weeks and months, I’ll be collating and publishing some of these recipes (many of which have never been written down before, or have been developed and refined from their original form), in the hope that you’ll enjoy them as much as I did (and still do of course).

Watch this space…….
